The Role
The School of History and Geography is seeking an exceptionally qualified and experienced candidate to appoint as Professor in Early Modern Irish History. This presents an exciting opportunity for a talented person to make a significant contribution to the future development of the School of History and Geography at DCU, becoming a member of a highly motivated and collaborative team.
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognised academic, committed to the pursuit of pioneering research in Early Modern Irish History. They will be expected to produce high-quality peer-review publications, to recruit and support postgraduate and post-doctoral researchers, apply for research funding and lead projects, and offer leadership in the discipline of history in the University and beyond. The appointee will be expected to advance our research reputation and impact through external engagement activity, and the effective and varied dissemination of their work.
Reporting to the Head of School of History and Geography, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels (including survey and research-led modules), to curriculum development, and to the administration of the School’s key history programmes. They will enhance our commitment to a transformative student experience.
The successful candidate will have an excellent track-record of, and an ongoing commitment to, leadership, innovation and management in the university sector. They will be expected to contribute to the collective leadership of the School, Faculty and University.
