The University of Edinburgh and Kodamai Limited have been awarded a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) funded by Innovate UK to develop a cyber security and privacy assurance strategy for Kodamai’s agentic AI platform based on precise mathematical foundations. The project will create practical tools that help protect data and safely deploy AI in multiple sectors including manufacturing and finance. This is an innovation project which will draw on the knowledge and expertise of the KTP Associate working together with Prof. David Aspinall and Dr. Marc Juarez in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.

Kodamai Ltd is an early-stage start-up founded in Glasgow, U.K. Kodamai are pioneering a new era in the digital economy by building collaborative communities of AI agents. Their mission is to deliver a transformative wave of business automation, driving significant improvements in productivity, cost efficiency, and operational excellence. Kodamai are passionate about cultivating a diverse and inclusive workplace, where unconventional thinking and scientific rigor are at the core of the approach. Kodamai leads with innovation, conducting original AI research and applying rigorous mathematical foundations to deliver unique solutions for their clients.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an independent and motivated KTP Associate with expertise in cyber security and privacy in applied research or in industry.  You may have additional background in mathematical foundations for security, secure-by-design approaches such as functional programming, type systems or verification. Over 27 months, you will develop the foundations of a security and privacy strategy and tooling design to support Kodamai’s agent platform.

Your work will span six stages covering successive aspects of agentic security and privacy iteratively: (1) assessment of starting point and state-of-the-art; (2) core threat modelling to understand Kodamai’s requirements including language-based security approaches and APIs; (3) confidentiality and privacy control design; (4) agent and workflow integrity; (5) proof-of-concept implementation calibrating controls; (6) evaluation and case studies.  You will have ability to adapt the schedule within the bounds of the project and you will collaborate closely with the Kodmai development team and a second KTP Associate at Kodamai who will work on predictive modelling for financial applications, helping motivate case studies and some of the design requirements.

This post is full-time (35 hours per week), primarily based at Kodamai Limited’s offices in central Glasgow, with regular visits to the University of Edinburgh as required. The post will be managed within Kodamai with supervision by Dr Neil Ghani (CSO, Kodamai Limited) and the academic leads at the University of Edinburgh School of Informatics (Prof David Aspinall and Dr Marc Juarez).

As part of this role, you may have the opportunity to publish research in top-tier venues, contribute to developing production-grade AI systems, and gain significant commercial exposure in the rapidly growing AI agent sector.

Whilst you will be employed by UoE, the details of your terms and conditions will be discussed further at interview.
