Manchester Metropolitan University is seeking an ambitious Reader in Construction Management to join our newly formed School of Engineering and Environment.

As part of our exciting Built Environment strategy, you will play a leading role in developing and delivering a new portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will help shape an outstanding student experience through high-quality teaching, curriculum innovation and academic leadership, while strengthening our connections with industry and professional practice.

We are looking for an experienced professional with broad expertise in construction management and specialist knowledge of digital construction technologies and processes.

About the role

As a Reader, you will:

  • Provide academic leadership across education, practice and citizenship activities.
  • Design and deliver engaging, research-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
  • Lead the development of innovative modules and contribute to programme enhancement.
  • Support colleagues through mentoring and academic leadership.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners and professional bodies.
  • Contribute to scholarship, knowledge exchange and external engagement that enhances the University's reputation.
  • Help deliver excellent outcomes for students in line with Manchester Met's Road to 2030 strategy.

About you

You will have:

  • A PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline.
  • Significant experience of developing and delivering Built Environment programmes within Higher Education.
  • Expertise in Construction Management, with knowledge across areas such as Digital Construction, Construction Technology, Modern Methods of Construction, Project Management, Sustainability or Quantity Surveying.
  • A strong track record of delivering an outstanding student experience through innovative teaching and assessment.
  • Experience of academic leadership, mentoring and leading projects or initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students and external partners.
  • Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, an appropriate professional body such as RICS, CIOB, PMI or APM.

Experience of programme leadership, professional body accreditation, apprenticeship delivery and working closely with industry partners would be advantageous.
