CEA CAPA Education Abroad is an established leader in the development and administration of quality international education programmes, partnering with universities and colleges across the USA and around the world, providing a full range of programmes and integrated services designed to support all aspects of international education. Academic excellence, integrity and innovation in education abroad are at the centre of CEA CAPA's endeavours.

CEA CAPA is currently looking for suitably qualified individuals to join our faculty team in London to teach a course for first year undergraduate students in kinesiology. This would be an introductory course for non-specialist first year students and would include writing exercises and appropriate experiential field study opportunities.

This course will be taught at the CEA CAPA Centre in South Kensington, London. It will provide students with an overview of Kinesiology through an interdisciplinary lens. Topics will cover the fundamental aspects of Exercise Physiology, Exercise Psychology, Physical Activity and Health, Biomechanics, and Movement Neuroscience. Students will develop a broad understanding of the field of Kinesiology and its disciplines, subdisciplines, and speciality areas, and should be able to link the field of Kinesiology and its disciplines, subdisciplines, and specialty areas to our world and its different scenarios, as well as use the gained knowledge to solve problems in diverse settings, from labs to hospitals, wellness centres, and field environments.

The course is taught to undergraduate students in their first year of study and runs in the autumn semester from week commencing 7 Sept, twice weekly for 12 weeks.

The ideal candidate would have:

  1. a PhD in hand or near completion (preferably), or a Master’s Degree in a relevant subject;
  2. experience of teaching in a higher education environment, especially in working within the HE sector in the
    US and/or with American students abroad, particularly first year students;
  3. a participative, flexible and creative approach to teaching and learning, including experiential learning;
  4. evidence of positive student evaluations from prior teaching experiences;
  5. a relevant publication record or academic interest in a relevant field;
  6. highly developed facilitation and communication skills;
  7. a willingness to contribute to course design and development;
  8. previous experience with using Canvas or a similar LMS for teaching and learning.

Flexibility in scheduling is essential. Faculty are responsible for all aspects of course preparation, teaching and assessment, working closely with CEA CAPA Academic Management to track module progress and ensure quality.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the UK. These are sessional fixed-term contracts for services and not employment. Candidates must be registered, or be able to register, as self-employed in the UK. Course stipend is competitive and commensurate with level of experience.

Prospective candidates should submit letters of interest and current CVs via the ‘Apply’ button above (LondonAMT@ceacapa.com), providing evidence of how they meet the selection criteria. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and we plan to appoint as soon as possible in July; early applications are strongly encouraged.
