The University of Manchester has recently established the Manchester Centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence and is a recognised leader in the development of robots for extreme environments, particularly nuclear. The CRADLE Project Manager will be located in Manchester to support the recently awarded EPSRC Prosperity Partnership: Centre for Robotic Autonomy in Demanding and Long-lasting Environments (CRADLE). CRADLE is a collaborative programme with Amentum involving approximately 20 researchers from The University of Manchester and a similar number of engineers from Amentum. The primary aim of CRADLE is to develop novel technologies that will allow autonomous robots to be reliably deployed in demanding environments, such as space, nuclear and urban infrastructure, for long periods of time.
The CRADLE Project Manager will be responsible for providing project management services and support to the ongoing research activities within the CRADLE programme, as well as the wider robotics group in Manchester. The postholder will be a key point of contact for stakeholder engagement, in particular with external stakeholders where regular engagement is expected, including the facilitation of technology demonstrations and a professional approach to working is required. It is expected that the postholder will also support the facilitation of research and technical demonstrations that are conducted at Amentum’s facility in Birchwood. It is expected that the postholder will contribute to the writing of high-quality publications on experimental activities.
