About the role

We are seeking an exceptional, multi/bilingual professional to join the Business School as a Partnership Tutor, supporting the success of international student cohorts on the 3+1 pathways and strengthening key global partnerships, with a particular focus on the Chinese educational context.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about student development, intercultural engagement, and academic excellence. You will provide expert academic skills support, guidance, and transition assistance to students joining us from overseas, helping them thrive within a UK higher education environment.

You will be working collaboratively with academic colleagues, professional services teams, and international partners, playing a vital role in enhancing student progression, continuation, and graduate outcomes. You will deliver workshops, 1-2-1 support, and targeted interventions, while also contributing to partnership development, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. You will also facilitate communication and coordination between Sussex and partner institutions on curriculum and programme mapping alignment, supporting student transition, planning and progression.

About you

The successful candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification, be fluent in both Mandarin and English, and possess deep knowledge of Chinese culture, education systems, and student needs. Experience supporting students in a university or comparable environment is essential.

Eligibility

This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. The assigned SOC code is 2329 Other educational professionals not elsewhere classified and the going rate is £40,600. Eligibility for sponsorship will depend on the salary offered, whether a candidate can make use of tradeable points to meet the salary offered or whether the candidate holds an existing Skilled Worker sponsorship which began before 4 April 2024.

This role involves regular contact with children or vulnerable adults, or positions of trust in legal, financial, and security sectors and therefore will require the successful candidate to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
