The role
We are seeking a Research Technician whor will join a new and dynamic team of virologist studying retroviral persistence (e.g., HIV-1, HTLV-1) and therapeutic strategies to eliminate it.
The role consists of fully supporting research laboratory activities, ensuring that the laboratories are prepared for experimentation and are compliant with relevant Health and Safety and other legislative or policy requirements. You will also carry out specialised techniques and train others in these and essential core functions.
What will you be doing?
The main laboratory activities will be the preparation and maintenance of cellular, plasmid, lentiviral constructs and viral stocks, isolation of nucleic acid and proteins, and performance of standardised colorimetric assays. The work will be conducted at CL-2 and CL-3 containment level, after appropriate training, and it will require handling of infectious (retroviruses) cell cultures. You will also oversee laboratory record keeping through the centralised electronic repository of the lab and liaise with the PI for laboratory purchases.
