Shape the future of mental health research and care. Warwick Medical School (WMS) and Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust (CWPT) invites applications for an outstanding Clinical Academic Psychiatrist, either as Associate Professor or Professor, to join a dynamic and internationally recognised research environment. This is a rare opportunity to lead a world-class, high-impact research programme while delivering meaningful clinical care and shaping the next generation of clinical academics.

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within CWPT
  • Establish and lead an independent, externally funded research programme with global reach
  • Shape the future of psychiatric education and workforce development
  • Translate research into tangible benefits for patients across the region

What makes this role distinctive:

  • A genuinely integrated clinical–academic model.
  • Strong institutional support for ambitious research.
  • Direct impact on services, policy, and patient care.

You will be supported to develop and lead a high-quality research portfolio, work across disciplines to address complex mental health challenges and secure funding and build regional, national and international collaborations. This is an ideal opportunity for a clinical academic motivated by impact, innovation and leadership.

About You

We are seeking an established clinical academic psychiatrist who is committed to integrating clinical practice and research, with a clear track record of delivering impact on real-world mental health care. You will be confident working across organisational boundaries, able to influence both NHS services and academic environments and motivated to contribute to service development within CWPT alongside academic leadership at WMS. You will demonstrate clinical credibility, intellectual innovation, and the ability to lead effectively across both university and healthcare settings.

You will have:

  • Full GMC registration and specialist registration in Psychiatry
  • A strong research track record of external funding
  • A portfolio of high-quality peer-reviewed publications
  • Experience of leading or contributing to collaborative research
  • A commitment to teaching, supervision and mentoring

You will be ambitious, interdisciplinary in outlook and motivated to translate research into real-world impact.
