About the Role

The Disability & Neurodiversity Manager leads our team of Disability Advisors, Learning Advisors and Administrators within the Disability & Neurodiversity Team. The team are a key element of our support for students with a disability or SpLD at SOAS. The role holder leads the service provision that supports disabled students during their studies.

About the Department

The Student Advice & Wellbeing team sits within the Student Support, Wellbeing & Careers Directorate. The team are comprised of a number of specialists across various areas and is where our Disability & Neurodiversity team are based. Student Advice & Wellbeing are often the first port of call for students in need of mental health support, disability support, immigration & finance advice, accommodation allocation and multi-faith support.

About you

We are looking for an experienced disability and neurodiversity professional who can bring together specialist knowledge, confident service leadership and a strong commitment to inclusive student support. You will understand disability support, SpLDs, inclusive practice and relevant legislation within a higher education context, and will be able to apply that knowledge in a practical, student-centred way.

This role would suit someone who enjoys leading people and shaping a positive team culture, while also staying close to the day-to-day realities of service delivery. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, supporting complex cases, improving processes, and using data, feedback and technology to enhance the experience of students and staff. You will also be confident in holding a small caseload of students either in a study skills or disability advisory capacity.
