About the Department of Accounting and Finance

The Department of Accounting and Finance is one of the academic departments of the School of Economics, Business and Computer Science. The Department is committed to excellence in teaching, research and professional engagement, offering programmes that combine academic rigour with professional relevance.

The Department offers and contributes to a growing portfolio of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, including:

  • BSc in Accounting, Banking and Finance.
  • MSc in Accounting and Financial Management.
  • MSc in Banking, Investment and Finance.
  • MSc in Forensic Accounting.
  • MSc in Data Analytics and Financial Technology
  • PhD programmes in Accounting, Finance and related disciplines.

The Department is expanding its research capacity and international collaborations and seeks to recruit outstanding academics who will contribute to strengthening its research profile, teaching excellence and engagement with the accounting and finance professions.

Job Description

The Department of Accounting and Finance at Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) invites applications for full-time appointments as:

  • Lecturer / Assistant Professor / Associate Professor in Accounting
  • Lecturer / Assistant Professor / Associate Professor in Finance

Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an active research agenda, with publications in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals commensurate with their career stage, while delivering high-quality teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The Department places strong emphasis on student-centred learning, supported by relatively small class sizes that foster meaningful interaction between faculty and students and provide an engaging and supportive learning environment.

Candidates appointed in Accounting will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas such as Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Financial Reporting and related disciplines.

Candidates appointed in Finance will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas such as Corporate Finance, Investment Analysis, Banking, Financial Markets, Financial Risk Management and related disciplines.

The successful candidates will also be expected to:

  • supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral research;
  • contribute to curriculum development and programme enhancement;
  • participate actively in departmental, school and university committees;
  • engage with professional bodies, industry and the wider community;
  • contribute to research funding initiatives and international collaborations.

The preferred starting date is 1 September 2026.

Qualifications and Experience

The Department of Accounting and Finance seeks applicants with demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarly research, teaching and professional engagement.

Applicants should normally possess:

  • A PhD in Accounting, Finance or a closely related discipline. Candidates close to completing their PhD will also be considered for appointment at Lecturer level.
  • Evidence of an active or developing research profile, demonstrated through publications in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals, conference papers, working papers or other scholarly outputs, commensurate with career stage.
  • Demonstrated excellence or strong potential in university teaching.
  • A commitment to interdisciplinary research, academic service and engagement with industry.

For appointments in Accounting, possession of a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent) will be considered a significant advantage.

For appointments in Finance, professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM or equivalent will be considered an advantage.

Experience in supervising postgraduate research, attracting research funding and participating in international research collaborations will be viewed favourably.

  • A teaching dossier including a statement of teaching philosophy, peer teaching assessments (where applicable), student teaching evaluations (where applicable), course outlines and any other material demonstrating a commitment to excellence in teaching.

Short-listed applicants will be required to provide:

  • Contact details of at least three academic referees.
  • Copies of academic transcripts and degree certificates before, or at the time of, the interview.

Language Requirements

  • Excellent command of English (essential, written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of Greek will be considered an advantage.

Salary will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience, in accordance with the University's salary policy.
