About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Student Support Navigator to join the Student and Campus Life team on a maternity cover basis. You will be a key point of contact for students, helping them access appropriate support services, navigate university systems, and overcome barriers to success.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with a diverse student population and who can provide clear guidance, early intervention support, and effective signposting within a complex educational environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support and guidance to students on a range of academic, personal, and welfare matters
  • Act as a “navigator” to connect students with appropriate internal and external support services
  • Support students experiencing difficulties, ensuring timely intervention and escalation where appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions in line with university policies
  • Work collaboratively with academic staff and professional services teams
  • Promote student wellbeing, retention, and engagement across campuses
  • Contribute to the development of inclusive and accessible support practices

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience in student support, pastoral care, advice services, or a similar role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work sensitively with students facing a range of challenges
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence in working both independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Experience in a higher education setting is desirable but not essential.

Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.

Working Pattern

This is a 0.8 FTE role (4 days per week), with some flexibility required to meet student and service needs.
