Postdoctoral Project Research Scientist – Machine Learning, Machine Vision & Data Integration

Short summary

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Project Research Scientist to lead machine learning, machine vision and data integration work across the VISIBLE platform. This is a rare opportunity to join VISIBLE at a defining moment, as the project moves from an advanced academic platform toward a potential spin-out company. The successful candidate will be part of the team helping to shape the technology, workflows and technical direction of VISIBLE from the inside, with the possibility of contributing to the foundations of a new company.

Key Responsibilities

These include but are not limited to:

• Develop AI and machine learning workflows to analyse microscopy and high-content imaging data from advanced in vitro models.
• Build computer vision pipelines for image segmentation, tracking, phenotypic profiling and quality control.
• Develop and deploy deep learning models to support imaging-guided experimental decisions within the VISIBLE platform.
• Integrate imaging data with functional, screening and multi-omics datasets.
• Collaborate with biologists, engineers and software developers to create robust computational tools.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and support reproducible data analysis.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of VISIBLE as an AI-enabled platform for experimental biology.

About you

You will have: 

• PhD in computer science, data science, machine learning, computational biology, bioimage analysis or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.*
• Strong experience applying machine learning, deep learning and computer vision to imaging data.*
• Experience developing analysis pipelines for microscopy or high-content imaging datasets.*
• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or scikit-learn.*
• Experience with model validation, reproducible workflows and analysing complex biological datasets.*
• Strong communication, problem-solving and collaborative working skills across multidisciplinary teams.*
