The role
Innovative technology support for our Computer Science students is key to improving the student experience. Our permanent Technical Support Specialist role is in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering and central to our teaching�&�learning, supporting the delivery and development of high-quality, lab based teaching across Computer Science and Cyber Security programmes.
You will join a vibrant, forward thinking community of academics and technical specialists who are passionate about education and innovation. Working across a broad range of technologies and projects, you will help identify and drive new solutions that enhance automation of assessment and feedback, enable staff to make the best use of our on cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and support students as they engage in practical security challenges.
As part of this team, you will take a proactive role in developing, commissioning, supporting and maintaining technology that underpins our teaching and learning activities. Example activities include web development, scripting and integrating solutions with our online learning environment, & configuring our virtual cloud provision and infrastructure to support security penetration testing and other advanced exercises.
About you
We are looking for someone with strong technical understanding of programming�& systems, combined with a practical, collaborative mindset and the confidence to bring new ideas. You will be able to demonstrate experience in problem solving and delivering technology solutions, with a focus on ownership, initiative and timely delivery. You�ll be comfortable working independently as well as in teams, and able to communicate clearly and professionally at all organisational levels.
There will be an expectation for the successful candidate to work on campus, with opportunities for working from home.
