About our team
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine - Dunedin are committed to advancing obstetric, gynaecological and women's health care and improving health outcomes in Aotearoa through comprehensive education, impactful research, and compassionate care guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
We play a major role in the MBChB programme teaching into years 3, 5, and 6 and offer postgraduate qualifications in women's health including a Certificate of Pregnancy and Medical Gynaecology, a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and research degrees including BMedSc, Masters and PhD.
The role
This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Australasia's leading medical schools as a Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate's academic achievements, experience, and expertise.
In this role, you will contribute to high-quality, research-informed teaching across the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will develop and deliver teaching and assessment activities, contribute to curriculum development, convene papers, and provide supervision and mentorship to research students. You will work collaboratively with the University of Otago's Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Christchurch and Wellington.
You will also establish or further develop an active research programme, producing high-quality publications, securing external research funding, and building national and international research collaborations. Joining our department provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to O and G health education and research, while working alongside internationally recognised throughout the University of Otago in a collegial and supportive academic environment.
Your skills and experience

This is a permanent, part-time (0.5 FTE) position, available from November 2026. This position is based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.
