Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (Warwick CTU) is a dynamic academic unit undertaking clinical trials addressing real issues of local, national and international importance. About You
Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (WCTU) is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Software Engineer to play a leading role within our busy Programming Team. This is the principal QA position in the team, offering the opportunity to shape and drive quality standards across a diverse portfolio of in-house developed clinical trial systems. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, performance, and regulatory compliance of software that supports cutting-edge health research.
In this role, you will lead the implementation of the team’s QA strategy, designing and executing both manual and automated testing across multiple products. You will own and evolve the QA infrastructure, supporting modern CI/CD practices and integrating automated testing throughout the development lifecycle. Working within an agile environment, you will contribute to sprint planning and ensure testing is effectively aligned with frequent, high-quality releases.
You will work closely with developers, application support analysts, and trial teams to establish robust QA practices across the development lifecycle, including coordinating and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure systems are thoroughly validated. You will also support and enhance the data quality testing infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and traceability of clinical trial data. In addition, you will play a central role in promoting a culture of software quality, refining QA processes and standards in line with SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements, while championing recognised testing best practices and modern security principles.
We are looking for someone with strong expertise across a broad range of testing practices, including automation, and a solid understanding of QA methodologies and DevOps principles. You should be confident working in agile teams, comfortable with modern tooling and frameworks, and able to influence best practice across the team. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and shape software QA practices within a Programming Team delivering a diverse range of research software. In return, we offer an excellent range of benefits, including an attractive pension scheme, 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, access to a wide range of savings on products and services such as Warwick Sport and Warwick Arts Centre, and excellent learning and development opportunities.
