Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 17th July 2026

Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time Lecturer in Law post within the North Wales School of Law.

The North Wales School of Law is a newly established School within Bangor University, bringing together Law, Criminology, Sociology and Policing. It builds on long-standing disciplinary strengths at Bangor and brings them together within a new structure focused on enhancing collaboration in teaching and research, and on driving forward growth and development across these priority areas.

Candidates should be educated to PhD in Law or related/relevant subject area (or near completion); or relevant professional experience in legal practice.

We are seeking an outstanding candidate with experience of teaching in Higher Education or experience in legal practice, together with a strong commitment to student-centred, inclusive teaching. Educated to PhD level or equivalent, candidates will have either a developing scholarly profile or professional legal expertise and will contribute actively to the development of the School.

The successful applicant will take a leading role in teaching Equity and Trusts and Land Law, and will also contribute to optional modules in Wills and Estates and practical Property Law. We would particularly welcome interest or expertise in Intellectual Property Law, alongside the ability to contribute more broadly across our programmes. Experience as a practising property lawyer would also be welcome. While the post is primarily focused on teaching and learning, the School actively supports scholarship and research activity. The successful candidate will be encouraged to develop their academic profile in line with their interests.

The post is intended to commence in September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Applications will also be considered to carry out the roles on a part-time or job share basis to the full-time fte.

Please click 'Apply’ button above to be redirected to our application page. However, in cases of access issues due to disability, paper application forms are available by telephoning 01248 383865.

Closing date for applications: 9 August 2026.

Interviews will be held: w/c 31 August 2026.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr. Hayley Roberts, Head of School: (until 31 July), email: hayley.roberts@bangor.ac.uk or Dr. Andrew Baker (from 3-6 August), email: andrew.baker@bangor.ac.uk
