A Research Assistant position is available in the Bhatia Group at The Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research aimed at uncovering how the plant hormone cytokinin regulates morphogenesis using Arabidopsis thaliana leaves as model. They will join a young and growing research lab and will be expected to bring enthusiasm, and a proactive commitment to developing research and scientific excellence and a positive, collaborative lab culture. The post is available for one year in the first instance, with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

Job role
The successful candidate will be responsible for plant growth and maintenance, phenotyping, crossing, DNA extraction and genotyping, Agrobacterium-mediated plant transformation, cloning (restriction enzyme-based, infusion PCR-based, and gateway), quantitative real-time PCR, CRISPR-Cas9 based genome editing and time-lapse confocal microscopy on Arabidopsis leaves. In addition, the candidate will contribute to the wider activities of the laboratory, including scientific outreach, general lab support, and collaboration with other lab members to facilitate research and maintain a positive and productive research environment.
