1 x ST5, ST6, ST7 or ST8 at City St George's, University of London
Funding: Locally Funded, NIHR recognised
Eligibility Guidance
This post is for trainees who have completed a relevant higher degree, that is a PhD or MD (original research). You must have submitted your thesis by the time of application and been awarded your higher degree by the post start date.
You must hold a full GMC registration with a current, active licence to practise for the entire duration of your appointment.
ST8 applicants are only eligible to apply if they have a full 12 calendar months to CCT completion at the start date of this post. Applicants who have less than 12 months to CCT completion are not eligible to apply.
Entry Grade
For ST5 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Cardiology and must be ST5 at post start date.
For ST6 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Cardiology and must be ST6 at post start date.
For ST7 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Cardiology and must be ST7 at post start date.
For ST8 entry, applicants must hold a current NTN in Cardiology and must be ST8 at post start date.
Applicants on the post-August 2022 Cardiology Curriculum must have completed all of their GIM training time requirements for IMT3 through to the end of ST5 at the time of starting the post.
Important information about training grades
Please note that the grade(s) advertised are the grade(s) at post start date. This means that applicants must be eligible to train at the advertised grade(s) at the start date of the post.
Please be aware that trainees are not permitted to repeat training for the purposes of taking up a CL post, and trainees are not permitted to start at a grade that is not advertised.
As an example, if a post is advertised at ST3 grade, then a current ST3 trainee who is on track to become an ST4 trainee at the post start date would NOT, under any circumstances, be permitted to take up the CL post at ST3 grade, as this would entail repeating training that has already been completed. If you are in receipt of an ARCP at the grade you are applying to, you will not be eligible for that grade.
If you are in any doubt as to your eligibility, please submit a query via RecruitmentCoordinators@citystgeorges.ac.uk.
General Information
This award is for completion of CCT/CESR (CP), subject to satisfactory progression.

Please note there are two person specifications relevant to the ST5 post: the NIHR supplementary person specification (available via the 'Documents' tab on this page) and the matched national specialty person specification, which can be found via the National Specialty Training Website: https://medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-training-recruitment/medical-specialty-training.
All other entry grades have the NIHR supplementary person specification available in the document tab.
Competencies
All applicants applying to medical specialties are required to have essential competencies or equivalent depending on the level they are applying for, as demonstrated on the person specification.
