Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

Liverpool School of Art and Creative Industries is a pioneering educational partnership that transcends traditional boundaries between art, design and screen disciplines. We are a vibrant, collaborative community where creativity thrives. We cultivate innovative thinkers and industry-ready graduates and equip them to succeed in the creative industries. The school is a dynamic environment that addresses the skills shortages in the creative sector and we aim to inspire future generations to realise and achieve their artistic potential.

We are now seeking to appoint a new part-time Lecturer in Fine Art (0.5fte). The successful candidate will have a degree and postgraduate qualification in Fine Art and a track record as an artist and educator. You will be able to demonstrate a good working understanding of fine art education, professional practice and the importance of inclusivity in the curriculum. In particular, we are looking for an artist/educator with a practice embedded in 3D with broad practical knowledge of sculpture and installation practices and processes. In this role, you will be tasked with ensuring students on the programme are introduced to a range of sculptural and 3D approaches at level 4 and support the ongoing development of students working in these areas through the course to become independent makers and thinkers. In addition, the successful candidate will have experience of supervising Fine Art practice at degree level more generally and supporting contextual and critical approaches to the subject.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

This is an exciting time to join the university as we deliver the LJMU Strategy 2030 and its vision of LJMU as an inclusive civic university transforming lives and futures, by placing students at the heart of everything we do. If you feel that this is the role you have been looking for and your skills and experience can make a real difference at LJMU, we look forward to hearing from you.
