Research Assistant (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Assistant to work on a project investigating spoken language production in children aged 2 - 5 years.

The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Psychology (Centre for Neuroscience in Education) and will be joining a team headed by Professor Usha Goswami (see: http://www.cne.psychol.cam.ac.uk/). The position is available from 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Applicants should ideally have a degree in psychology, neuroscience, linguistics or a related discipline. Experience of behavioural testing with toddlers and pre-schoolers is essential, as are good organisational skills. Experience of working with linguistic tasks and of data management is desirable.

Experience of working in the MATLAB environment would be an advantage. Applicants will require the capacity to work independently within the current team to ensure the smooth running of the project (target sample 120 pre-schoolers).

Applicants will mainly recruit participants and collect language data including via pre-existing computerised tasks, as well as scoring and coding language assessments.

Excellent organisational and communication skills are required, and prior experience with linguistic coding would be desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
