NIHR SPCR Nursing Commercial Research Fellow

Location: Woodstock Road, Oxford

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Nursing Commercial Research Fellow to work at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford.

The NIHR School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) is launching a development fellowship scheme to build nursing leadership in commercial research across primary care and wider care settings. The programme provides opportunities to enhance skills in commercial research delivery, academic development, strategic systems leadership, and cross-sector collaboration. As this is a development fellowship, Fellows will not be employed as research nurses or recruited to support a specific, individual research study, but will develop strategic and academic capabilities.

Fellows will have academic mentorship and support from SPCR host departments, including access to relevant training. Dependent on experience this could include training such as: research methodology, clinical trials governance and management, patient and public involvement, research communication and dissemination, and leadership.

By the end of the Fellowship, Fellows will understand the commercial research ecosystem, develop academic and strategic skills, build national networks, and be positioned for future research and leadership roles.

Any NMC‑registered nurse, working in primary care, community services, or wider care settings is eligible (NMC-registered nurses not working in these settings must demonstrate ability to form partnerships rapidly).

You will have an interest in research, service improvement or innovation, have the ability to work independently and across boundaries and have demonstrable leadership skills. 

You will be based in the Gibson Building Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your normal place of work but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.

The position is funded by NIHR at 0.4 or 0.5 FTE, for up to 18 months, all posts to end by 31 March 2028.

This role may be undertaken as a secondment.
