About the role:

Are you an experienced data professional looking to contribute to a sector-wide data transformation programme at a world-leading university? Do you enjoy working across teams to deliver solutions that are both technically robust and operationally effective?

As Senior Student Data Officer within Registry, you will play a central role in delivering the HESA in-year programme, from initial scoping through to implementation. Working with colleagues across the university, you will help embed sustainable solutions that ensure Imperial meets new statutory requirements while maintaining high-quality student data.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a major sector milestone and shape how the university manages its data and processes.

What you’ll do

  • Analyse, scope and document the technical and operational changes needed to meet HESA in-year requirements, including new regulatory functionality within the Student Records System (Banner).
  • Implement solutions to address business process gaps and required mitigations.
  • Work with stakeholders to ensure data collection and retention processes comply with HESA requirements.
  • Monitor developments in the new regulatory functionalityand the HESA in-year programme, sharing relevant updates with stakeholders.
  • Act as the university’s subject matter expert on HESA in-year requirements.
  • Test systems, configurations and business processes to support reporting needs.
  • Maintain clear documentation of business requirements, technical specifications and operational procedures.
  • Deliver training on Ellucian Regulatory Management functionality and HESA requirements where needed.
  • Promote awareness of the HESA in-year programme across Registry and the wider university.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across the university.

  • Proven experience working with student data in an operational environment.
  • The ability to interpret complex statutory requirements and apply them in an institutional setting.
  • Strong analytical skills, including identifying issues, conducting research and recommending solutions.
  • The ability to manage your workload effectively and prioritise competing demands.
  • Confidence in learning new database systems and training others to use them.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • An understanding of data privacy principles, especially when handling sensitive personal data.
  • A collaborative and diplomatic approach, with confidence in managing stakeholder expectations.

Desirable: knowledge of student systems such as Banner or SITS.
Advantageous: experience with Alteryx, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric or other ETL tools.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until 31.07.2028 (35 hours per week), based at White City Campus with hybrid working available.
