SCI is seeking a creative, analytical and highly motivated Marketing & Engagement Executive to help grow engagement with our publishing, membership and wider charitable activities.

SCI is an international forum where science meets business. As a registered charity, we advance the application of science into industry for public benefit through events, publications, knowledge sharing and support for the next generation of scientists and engineers. Our publishing portfolio includes specialist research journals produced in partnership with Wiley, the Society’s magazine C&I, and a growing range of digital and social communications.

In this role, you will help develop and deliver targeted marketing campaigns, create compelling content, analyse audience behaviour and identify new opportunities to strengthen SCI’s visibility, reach and impact. You will work across journals, magazine content, membership programmes, events and strategic initiatives, supporting engagement with researchers, industry professionals, members, students and other stakeholder groups.

What you will do

  • Plan and deliver multi-channel marketing campaigns across SCI’s journals, magazine, membership, events and wider activities.
  • Create engaging content for newsletters, websites, social media, campaigns, presentations and promotional materials.
  • Deliver marketing activity and campaigns that grow awareness, usage and submissions for our portfolio of journals.
  • Support audience growth, member acquisition, onboarding, retention and re-engagement activities.
  • Use CRM, CMS marketing and analytics tools to understand audience behaviour and improve campaign performance.
  • Monitor campaign results, report on engagement and return on investment, and use Insight to inform future activity.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across SCI to ensure communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the Society’s mission and brand.

The role is based at SCI’s office in Belgravia, London, with a hybrid working pattern of three days in the office and two days working from home. SCI offers a benefits package including a pension scheme and 25 days’ annual leave, in addition to public holidays.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of (ideally) two years’ experience in marketing, communications, engagement or audience development, ideally with an interest in science, publishing, membership or the not-for-profit sector. You may have worked in scholarly publishing, a learned society, professional association, charity, higher education, a scientific organisation or another audience-focused environment. You will bring strong copywriting and content creation skills, confident using data to improve marketing effectiveness, and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to different audiences. You will be organised, collaborative and comfortable balancing creative work with performance analysis. STEM degree required.
