This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with experience in Higher Education, Further Education, academic support, student engagement, learner development, personal tutoring or student services who want to make a meaningful difference to students' lives.

As an Academic Support Tutor, you will play a key role in supporting student engagement, academic achievement, retention and progression. Through personalised academic support, coaching and guidance, you will help students overcome barriers, develop confidence and achieve their academic and career goals.

Working closely with academic teams, wellbeing services and careers colleagues, you will contribute to an outstanding student experience and help students thrive throughout their journey at LCCA.

About the Role

As an Academic Support Tutor, you will provide personalised academic guidance, learning support and student success interventions that help improve engagement, achievement and continuation rates.

You will work proactively with students to identify challenges, develop action plans and provide ongoing support throughout their studies.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who enjoys building strong relationships, solving problems and helping learners succeed.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Deliver one-to-one and group academic support sessions.
• Act as a Personal Tutor, providing guidance and support throughout the student journey.
• Support student engagement, retention, progression and achievement.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and academic performance data.
• Identify students who may require additional support and implement early intervention strategies.
• Develop and review personalised student action plans and SMART goals.
• Provide academic skills support, including study skills, time management, assessment preparation and organisation.
• Work collaboratively with Academic, Wellbeing, Careers and Student Services teams.
• Signpost students to specialist support services where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of student interactions and outcomes.
• Promote a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Contribute to initiatives that enhance the student experience and student success.
• Occasionally provide classroom cover using pre-prepared teaching materials to ensure continuity of learning.

About You

We're looking for a student-focused professional with a passion for education and a commitment to helping learners achieve their full potential.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (such as Business, Management, Graphic Design, Fashion, Hospitality or related subjects).
• Experience supporting learners within Higher Education, Further Education or a comparable educational setting.
• Experience in academic support, tutoring, mentoring, coaching or student guidance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to build effective relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience using virtual learning environments, learning management systems or student records platforms.
• Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and widening participation.

Desirable Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant subject area.
• PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Fellowship of Advance HE or another recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting international students.
• Experience working within student services, learner development or student success teams.
• Knowledge of student engagement, retention and success strategies in Higher Education.

Additional Information

As LCCA operates seven days a week, evening and weekend working will be required on a rota basis.
