Assistant Professor in Satellite and Space Engineering

In line with the strategic development of the University and to lead the development of the aeronautical and aviation engineering discipline in teaching and research activities, the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering was established in the Faculty of Engineering. The Department currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and actively engages in various research and consultancy work. Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

1. initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in his/her areas of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects;  
2. conduct research in satellite and space engineering and contribute to the development of the Department’s research strengths;  
3. supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses; 
4. undertake teaching duties at various levels in the area of satellite and space engineering; 
5. engage in programme/curriculum planning, development and administration; 
6. undertake relevant administrative duties; and 
7. perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his delegates.  

Qualifications 

Applicants should have: 

1. a PhD degree in Engineering with expertise in satellite and space engineering, including but not limited to spacecraft dynamics and control, payload and instrumentation, space robots, spacecraft design and tests, space technology applications such as navigation, remote sensing, and communications; 
2. experience in acquiring external research funding including national and international funding bodies and industries; 
3. strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; 
4. effective classroom teaching skills and good interpersonal skills; and 
5. excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills, as well as strong cooperation skills with the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team. 

Conditions of Service 

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.
