About The Role

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to support the work of Prof Albert Chen. This European Commission and UK Research and Innovation funded full-time post is available immediately for a fixed term of 18 months.
 
The starting salary will be from £43,482 on Grade F, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.

The Role
 

The successful applicant will contribute to the projects QLEANUP and UrbaQuantum by designing the architecture of digital platform to integrate modelling and analytics tools, developing customisable visualisation dashboard to monitor, control, and operate systems in key water quality processes, and supporting decision making. The applicant must be familiar with Linux environment, programming languages such as Python, geographical information system and geospatial analytics tools, as well as existing IoT standards (e.g. FIWARE) and Digital Twins applications, and human machine interface to establish orchestration mechanisms that can collect/connect data from multiple sources, process data to enable interoperable applications, and present data to help managers determine the optimum solution in terms of system efficiency and effectiveness.  

The post will include delivering research outputs in the form of weekly reports, contributions to conferences, and scientific articles. 

About You

The successful applicant will be able to develop research objectives, projects and proposals; identify sources of research funding and contribute to the process of securing funds and make presentations at conferences and other events.
 
Applicants will possess a relevant PhD or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study. The successful applicant will be a nationally recognised authority in insert subject area and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop research programmes and methodologies.
