Technical Specialist (Student Workshop)

Do you want to support the next generation of engineers and contribute to world class research? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated technical specialist to join our team. Our technical team plays an essential role in enriching the student experience. 

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is in the top 5 in the UK for our undergraduate courses and internationally renowned for our research output. You can be part of this success through the technical support you provide to our students and staff.

About the role 

You will work in our student workshop teaching and supervising our undergraduate students. You will provide technical support for both teaching and research activities. You could be making parts for a student racing car one day or working with researchers to build an artificial knee the next. 

You need to have experience working with mechanical workshop conventional machine tools, hand tools and an aptitude for practical work. We appreciate a wide range of skills in our team, so if you have experience of assembly, fitting, fabrication or welding this will be an advantage.

We want to hear from people who are flexible and adaptable in their approach to work. You need to have a positive attitude and be willing to learn.

This is a part-time role working 0.4 fte (14.6 hours per week) on Tuesday and Thursday.
