Senior Lecturer Child Nursing

About the Role

As Senior Lecturer in Child Nursing, you will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our modules and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a high performing and supportive Child Nursing team and Edge Hill University, recognised for it’s strong partnerships with regional NHS organisations and commitment to educational excellence.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver and Develop High Quality Teaching and Learning
  • Design, deliver and evaluate engaging teaching across undergraduate child nursing programmes (including simulation and clinical skills)
  • Ensure curriculum content reflects NMC standards, contemporary paediatric practice, and evidence-based care
  • Support students’ academic development through tutoring, assessment and feedback
  • Support Practice Learning and Student Progression
  • Work closely with practice partners (e.g. NHS Trusts) to maintain high quality placement experiences
  • Monitor student progression, wellbeing, and professional conduct, acting as a personal tutor and academic assessor
  • Contribute to assessment of practice learning and ensure students meet required competencies for registration
  • Contribute to Scholarship, Quality and Programme Leadership
  • Engage in scholarship, research, or knowledge exchange to enhance teaching and professional practice
  • Work with the team in quality assurance, curriculum development, and regulatory compliance (NMC, Ofsted where relevant)
  • Contribute and lead team initiatives, recruitment activities, and strengthening partnerships with healthcare providers

About You

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. You will demonstrate a passion for supporting learners to succeed, alongside the ability to inspire, challenge and engage students across a range of educational settings.

You will have an established or emerging profile in scholarship, research or knowledge exchange within children and young people’s nursing / child health. With the ability to contribute to the school’s growing academic portfolio. A track record of high-quality teaching and assessment within undergraduate nursing programmes/in practice is essential, with experience of curriculum design, module leadership, or innovative pedagogical approaches being highly desirable.

A professional background in children’s nursing supported by relevant qualifications and contemporary clinical experience, will enable you to bring credibility and real-world insight to your teaching and academic practice.

To be successful, you will enrich the student experience through your subject expertise, clinical insight and commitment to evidence-informed practice, as demonstrated through your qualifications, professional registration and sustained engagement with practice. You will be confident in working collaboratively with colleagues and external partners, contributing to a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
