The Student Experience Directorate within the University of Southampton is a diverse group of services. Providing the very best student experience is at the heart of everything we do.
We are seeking a forward-thinking Student Communications Coordinator to help shape and strengthen how we engage with our diverse student community. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence the student journey at a Russell Group institution, working within a collaborative environment where your ideas will make a tangible difference.
The role
Reporting to the Student Engagement Manager, the Student Communications Coordinator will support the delivery of student communications and engagement activity across the University. The postholder will help coordinate and deliver communications that enhance students’ sense of belonging, support their academic success, and strengthen their connection to the wider University community.
Working in line with the University’s student communications and engagement objectives, you will create and share engaging, accessible and inclusive content across a range of channels, helping to ensure students receive timely and relevant information throughout their university journey.
You will support the planning and delivery of communication campaigns and engagement initiatives, using data, feedback and insight to help evaluate their effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement. The role will also involve maintaining key communication channels, supporting content planning processes, and contributing to the development of good practice in student communications.
As part of the Student Experience Directorate, you will also contribute to major University activities and events, such as Welcome, Open Days and Graduation, and support the delivery of urgent student communications when required.
About you
You'll be passionate about supporting students and have some experience in a communications, engagement, marketing or similar role, ideally within the education sector or a large, complex organisation.
Organised and proactive, you'll be able to manage competing priorities, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and use your initiative to solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement. With strong written communication skills, you'll be able to create clear, engaging content for different channels and audiences, and support the planning and delivery of campaigns and student-facing communications.
You'll also have strong digital and IT skills, with the confidence to use a range of communication platforms and systems.
What we can offer you
As a university, we aim to create an environment where everyone can thrive and are proactive in fostering a culture of inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity. We believe that we can only truly meet our objectives if we are reflective of society, so we are passionate about creating a working environment in which you are free to bring your whole self to work.
With a generous holiday allowance as well as additional university closure days we are committed to supporting our staff and students.
