Influence Change. Develop Student Leaders. Shape the Student Experience.
Every student deserves to be heard.
At the Royal Veterinary College Students' Union (RVC SU), we believe students should play a meaningful role in shaping the decisions that affect their education and university experience. We're looking for an ambitious, relationship-focused and proactive Student Voice Coordinator to help make that happen.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead our student representation and voice work, supporting students to become effective leaders, advocates and change-makers.
Whether you're already working in a Students' Union and looking for greater responsibility, or you're a recently completed Sabbatical Officer ready to start your professional SU career, this role offers valuable experience in leadership development, governance, student engagement and institutional influence.
What You'll Do
You will:
- Lead and develop RVC SU's Academic Representative system.
- Recruit, train, mentor and support student representatives and leaders.
- Work closely with elected Officers, academic staff and senior university colleagues to ensure student priorities influence decision-making.
- Coordinate democratic processes, including elections, consultations and feedback initiatives.
- Support campaigns and projects that improve the student experience.
- Analyse feedback and engagement data to identify trends and drive improvement.
- Develop students' confidence in leadership, advocacy, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners to strengthen student representation.
This Role Could Be Perfect for You If...
- You're a Students' Union professional seeking greater influence and development opportunities.
- You've recently completed a Sabbatical Officer role and want to continue making a difference.
- You enjoy developing others, building relationships and turning ideas into action.
- You're passionate about student voice, engagement and positive change.
About You
Essential
- Experience of representation, advocacy, engagement or supporting students, members or communities.
- Experience delivering training, mentoring or leadership development.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyse information and communicate recommendations clearly.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach and commitment to inclusion.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Desirable
- Experience working in a Students' Union, membership organisation or higher education setting.
- Experience managing student representation or engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of university governance or democratic processes.
- Experience supporting elections, campaigns or advocacy projects.
If you're excited about the role but don't meet every requirement, we'd still encourage you to apply.
Why Join RVC SU?
