Lecturer (Critical Applied Linguistics)

The role

We are seeking a Lecturer in Critical Applied Linguistics to teach on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, and TESOL. The post-holder will lead modules which include those concerned with language and in/justices, language and educational contexts, language and coloniality, language and power, and critical sociolinguistics. The post-holder should adopt a critical disposition towards the study of language in social contexts, engaging in critical pedagogies which centre discussions of language in the production and maintenance of social in/justices.

The post-holder should possess excellent knowledge of contemporary issues and debates within applied linguistics and be able to effectively share that knowledge through teaching and curricula design.

This is a fixed-term contract starting on 4 January 2027 until 31 October 2029 (0.3 FTE)
