The University of Aberdeen is committed to providing high-quality, inclusive support for all students, ensuring they can fully engage with their studies and university life. The increasing number of disabled students, and the expansion of inclusive practice requirements across the sector, have resulted in growing expectations and complexity within disability support provision.
The Student Advice & Support team is seeking to recruit a Student Support Adviser (Disability & Inclusion) to ensure that we continue to meet our legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010 and deliver on our commitments under the Aberdeen 2040 strategy. This role will involve working closely with individual students, as well as with a range of University colleagues.
The Student Support Adviser (Disability & Inclusion) plays a key role in supporting disabled students to access and fully participate in their studies and wider university experience. The postholder will provide specialist advice and guidance to students with a range of disabilities, long-term health conditions, mental health conditions, and specific learning differences, ensuring that individual support needs are assessed and appropriate reasonable adjustments are identified and implemented.
The role involves working with a wide range of students, supporting applications for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), liaising with academic and professional services colleagues, and contributing to the development of inclusive practice across the University. The postholder will also provide broader student support and advice, contribute to institutional case management processes where appropriate, and support the wider work of Student Support Services.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £38,784 - £46,049 per annum, and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Informal enquiries should be made to Jemma Murdoch, Deputy Head of Student Support Services (j.murdoch@abdn.ac.uk) or Lucy Rowe, Student Support Adviser (Lucy.rowe@abdn.ac.uk).
