Hours: Full Time

About the role

The University of Bath is home to a vibrant international community of staff, researchers and visitors from across the world.

We're looking for a Staff Immigration Adviser to join our Human Resources team and help deliver a high-quality immigration service that enables talented people from around the globe to come to the UK, work at the University, and continue their careers here.

We recognise that immigration experience can be gained in many different settings. If you have experience in employment immigration, student immigration, another area of immigration practice, or a comparable regulatory environment, and enjoy helping people navigate complex requirements, we'd love to hear from you.

As the University continues to expand its global reach through transnational education initiatives and international partnerships, an awareness of the potential immigration, mobility and compliance implications arising from these developments would also be advantageous.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their expertise within a supportive team while making a real difference to the experience of our international colleagues.

As Staff Immigration Adviser, you'll provide specialist advice and guidance on immigration matters to prospective and current staff, managers and other internal stakeholders, and visitors. You'll support sponsorship activities, help ensure the University meets its compliance responsibilities and contribute to delivering an excellent customer experience.

Working closely with colleagues across HR and the wider University, you'll:

  • provide clear, accurate and timely advice on immigration matters and related processes
  • support sponsorship activities and compliance with Home Office requirements
  • manage immigration casework and maintain accurate, auditable records
  • monitor changes in legislation and guidance, helping to update processes and communications
  • work collaboratively with colleagues across HR, Recruitment, Payroll and academic departments to support international recruitment and employment
  • contribute to training, service improvements and the development of guidance and resources

You'll balance advisory work, operational processes and compliance activities while building strong relationships across the University.

About you

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, working with people and interpreting complex rules and regulations into clear and deliverable guidance.

You'll bring:

  • experience providing immigration advice, casework and administrative support within a regulated environment
  • the ability to understand and apply legislation, policy or regulatory guidance accurately and consistently
  • excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information in a clear and supportive way
  • strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering a high-quality customer experience
  • confidence working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds.

Experience within higher education would be an advantage but is not essential.
