Role Summary 

As Senior Assessment Coordinator, you will provide operational leadership across assessment activities, with a particular focus on the delivery of digital examinations. You will act as a key point of contact for colleagues, providing guidance and support during assessment periods, resolving issues and helping to ensure a smooth experience for students and staff.

You will develop expert knowledge of the University’s digital assessment platforms, support colleagues in their use and contribute to continuous improvement across assessment processes.

Through effective coordination and support of assessment activities, you will:

  • Act as deputy to the Assessment Officer, supporting the delivery of assessment operations throughout the academic year.
  • Lead the operational delivery of online examinations, including troubleshooting issues and supporting colleagues during peak assessment periods.
  • Provide guidance and support to Assessment Coordinators, academic colleagues and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain guidance materials, resources and training support for digital assessment systems.
  • Liaise with IT Services and external suppliers to resolve technical issues and support system improvements.
  • Ensure assessment activities are delivered accurately and in line with University policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting information and assessment data.
  • Support process improvements and contribute to the development of effective and efficient ways of working.
  • Provide support, training and guidance to colleagues and invigilators as required.

We are looking for an organised and proactive colleague with experience of assessment administration, academic operations or a similar environment.

Essential Requirements 

  • Experience working in assessment administration, academic operations or a similar higher education environment.
  • Strong IT skills, with the ability to learn and support the use of new systems and software.
  • Experience supporting or supervising colleagues and providing day-to-day guidance.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of assessment processes, procedures and digital assessment platforms.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, academic colleagues and professional services teams.
  • Experience managing complex administrative processes while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Desirable Requirements 

  • Experience of process improvement, change initiatives, assessment reporting or examination scheduling and systems.
