WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) is a leading academic department at the University of Warwick, renowned for its role in driving innovation, industry collaboration and economic growth. Working at the interface between academia, business and government, WMG delivers impactful research and technology programmes that help organisations develop advanced manufacturing and digital capabilities.
WMG is seeking a proactive and commercially minded newly qualified or finalist Management Accountant to support its high-profile collaboration with the HVM Catapult. Working across a portfolio of 60+ cutting-edge research and industrial projects, you will support project managers to provide financial insight and strategic guidance using large data sets and the latest Microsoft, SAP and AI tools. With programme activity totalling around £20m per year, you will bring advanced Excel expertise, including the ability to use Power Query confidently to manipulate, analyse and report on complex data sets. Knowledge of Power BI and experience with financial systems are also highly desirable.
You will own the budgeting, forecasting and cost control cycles, and provide financial governance in a fast-moving, innovation-driven environment. This is a great opportunity to influence how major national manufacturing programmes are funded and delivered, while gaining exposure to a diverse range of technologies, stakeholders and commercial models. If you thrive in complex environments, enjoy shaping decisions, and want your work to have real-world impact, this role offers a compelling next step.
ABOUT YOU
You should possess financial management experience, preferably including some experience in the public / not-for-profit sector. You must be comfortable managing large datasets and reporting using Power Query, Excel and SAP (or equivalent ERP). It is also essential to have the ability to explain accounts to non-financial staff, as you will work closely with them in the development of research grant applications.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The University Finance Office supports business planning and innovation to maximise the financial resources available to the University and create the long-term sustainable financial platform required for future growth. Finance staff across the University are networked as a professional community of expertise. You will be supported to continue your professional journey through access to Continuing Professional Development training opportunities, sector networks and regular Finance Office briefings.
Additional Salary Information
Please note that a £2,000 per annum market supplement (pro-rated and non-pensionable) is available for the successful applicant on provision of proof of current membership of an approved accounting body and evidence they hold the appropriate accountancy qualifications.’
