The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University is dedicated to advancing sports science, engineering, computing, life and natural sciences through world-class research, education, and industry partnerships. The Faculty is home to four specialist schools and supports both undergraduate and postgraduate education in a state-of-the-art new building and a growing research environment.

The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences is an ambitious school, that strives to harness the power of sport and exercise to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of the people from the communities we serve. About the Role & Team
You will be a passionate academic with an excellent and accelerating profile in educational innovation and applied clinical practice to join the School as a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
Key Responsibilities
You will lead the delivery of high-quality teaching in Clinical Exercise Physiology across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, combining academic excellence with applied clinical practice to prepare students for careers in healthcare, rehabilitation and exercise medicine. You will play a leading role in the continued development of our successful MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology, contributing to curriculum development, educational innovation and the delivery of engaging practical and clinical skills teaching.
A key aspect of the role will be the development, coordination and quality assurance of clinical placement opportunities, working closely with NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Systems and other healthcare partners to provide outstanding practice-based learning experiences for our students. You will also contribute to the continued growth of our external partnerships, ensuring our teaching reflects contemporary clinical practice and supports graduate employability. Alongside this, you will contribute to wider school initiatives that enhance the student experience, student success and the continued development of Clinical Exercise Physiology as a strategic area of growth for the Department.
Key Skills & Experiences
You will hold a PhD in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation Science or a closely related discipline. Registration with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, or the ability to achieve registration, is essential. You will bring experience of clinical exercise physiology, rehabilitation or healthcare practice, alongside a strong understanding of exercise assessment and prescription for people living with long-term health conditions.
You will have experience of delivering high-quality teaching in higher education or substantial professional practice that can be translated into an outstanding student learning experience. Experience of developing and managing clinical placements, NHS partnerships or other employer engagement activities would be highly desirable. Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), or a commitment to achieving this within two years, is essential. Above all, you will be a collaborative and student-focused academic with the enthusiasm to inspire future Clinical Exercise Physiologists and contribute positively to the continued success and growth of the School.
