This role will require a presence of at least 4 days a week at our Birmingham Campus, with 1 day working from home to suit the student timetable. You maybe required to be on campus 5 days a week in some cases, based on teaching and meeting requirements. Our hybrid working model arrangements are a non-contractual benefit which could changes at any point during your employment, so please note that an Arden work location is added to our employment contracts.

Our School of Psychology, within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Technology, is dedicated to delivering outstanding, applied psychology education. Our collaborative and diverse academic community brings together experienced academics, practitioner psychologists, and industry professionals who are passionate about equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to thrive in a wide range of psychology-related careers and professional settings.

About the Opportunity:

We are seeking two Assistant Lecturers in Psychology who be under the line management and guidance of an experienced Senior Lecturer. Under supervision, you will:

  • Deliver excellent teaching, learning, dissertation supervision and academic support to our students.
  • Create high-quality digital teaching material ensuring that content and methods of delivery meet defined learning objectives.
  • Undertake timely formative and summative assessment marking and provide high-quality feedback.
  • Reflect on your teaching and learning practice and development of skills, with support/guidance as needed.
  • Undertake administrative and quality assurance activities to support teaching and learning activities, such as marking standardisation and teaching observations.
  • Actively contribute to School level activity, such as participation in wider citizenship roles such a reviewing ethics applications and supporting research methods workshops.

**You will be required to work on campus 4 days a week to meet the student timetable.

About You:

To be successful as an Assistant Lecturer in Psychology you must have:

  • A BSc degree or higher in Psychology with Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Excellent breadth and depth of core BPS curriculum, including qualitative research methods, and common subjects, such as forensic, counselling, clinical, cyberpsychology.
  • The ability to effectively communicate material of a specialist or technical nature relevant to Psychology.
  • The ability to contribute to programme enhancement.
  • Confidence in using common digital platforms.
  • Some experience in teaching or providing academic support.

Desirable criteria:

  • An MSc or equivalent qualification in Psychology, with Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) recognised by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • AdvanceHE Recognition – Associate FHEA or willingness to achieve within 12-18 months.
  • Willingness to engage in appropriate applied AI practices.
