Full-Time and Open Ended, Hybrid working dependent on business need

Digital and AI are changing how universities teach, research and operate. At Loughborough University, we're investing in the skills, confidence and capability our people need to embrace those opportunities and we're looking for someone to lead that journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape how over 4,000 colleagues across academic and professional services develop the digital, data and AI capabilities that will enable them to work smarter, innovate with confidence and realise the potential of new technologies. Working at the heart of our Organisational Development & Change Directorate, you'll play a key role in delivering one of the University's strategic priorities.

You'll be responsible for influencing and delivering a core pillar of the University's Digital and AI Skills Strategy: creating a clear vision for capability development while ensuring it translates into meaningful changes in practice. This is a role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically but is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to make things happen.

Working in partnership with colleagues from across the University, you'll identify current and future capability needs, design innovative development approaches, and build a compelling programme of learning and support that helps people confidently adopt digital and AI technologies in their everyday work. You'll use insight, evidence and emerging trends to continually evolve the University's approach, ensuring it remains relevant, inclusive and impactful.

Success in this role isn't measured simply by the learning you create - it's about the confidence, behaviours and ways of working you help embed across the organisation. You'll influence senior leaders, work alongside technical experts, champion responsible AI adoption and help create a culture where continuous learning and digital curiosity become part of how we work.

We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with practical delivery. You'll have experience of leading organisation-wide AI and digital capability transformation initiatives and understand what it takes to move beyond awareness into real adoption. You'll be an excellent relationship builder who can engage and influence people at every level, translating complex ideas into practical solutions that deliver lasting impact.

If you're excited by the opportunity to shape the future capabilities of one of the UK's leading universities and want to help thousands of colleagues develop the skills they'll need for the future, we'd love to hear from you.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be directed to Dr Tina Byrom, Head of Enhanced Academic Practice, Organisational Development & Change, via email at t.byrom@lboro.ac.uk

Applications close on 4 September 2026. Initial 15-minute interviews will take place on 15 September 2026, with successful candidates progressing to a formal interview on 22 September 2026.
