About the Role
The position is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and will involve analysis of Partial Differential Equations (PDE) emerging in Mathematical Fluid Mechanics and Kinetic Theory.
The project is devoted to analysis of hydrodynamic models of interacting agents. The goal is to develop the existence and stability theory for degenerate hydrodynamic equations (Navier-Stokes, Euler) with nonlocal interaction forces, and possibly systems describing multi-component or multi-phase flows, using a mix of techniques from functional, harmonic or stochastic analysis, measure theory, theory of linear and quasi-linear parabolic and hyperbolic conservation laws.
You will be working with Prof. Ewelina Zatorska and her team based in the Warwick Maths Institute, a world-leading mathematics department. You will have, if desired, opportunities to travel in the UK and abroad, on research visits to collaborating groups and to conferences. You will be given both time and mentoring support to develop your own research profile and broader skills.
About you
You should have (or be due to submit soon) a PhD, or have equivalent level of professional qualifications and/or experience in analysis of PDEs or closely related fields.
You have published original research results in analysis of PDEs, functional analysis, measure theory or numerical analysis, commensurate with career stage.
You can demonstrate strong background in fluid mechanics and/or kinetic theory.
You are able to carry out original research, to identify, develop and apply new concepts, techniques and methods.
You can work effectively in a larger research group and have the ability to communicate its results to the wider research community.
You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, and be comfortable talking about your work with academics from other disciplines and non-specialists. You will have a record of research papers published in journals (or accepted to be published). You will have a high capacity for original research and creative thought, as well as the ability to manage your time effectively across multiple strands of research.

PhD Status
If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum).
Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow, at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
