GeoData: GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Technician
GeoData has a vacancy within their Geographical Information System (GIS) team for a GIS Technician.
The position will suit anyone with an interest in geography who is keen to learn about using computer-based tools to solve geographical problems. Our project profile comprises work in the environment, health, business, education, transport and development sectors and requires the use of digital and paper maps, aerial photos and satellite imagery from the UK and overseas.
Your main purpose will be to assist the GIS team in data capture, data analysis and map production using ESRI and QGIS software. You would also contribute to the organisation of our GIS training courses and participate in surveys taking place outside the office.
You will have experience of data input using Excel and analysing data and presenting summary information in a clear and concise format and the ability to contribute to team efficiency through sharing information and constructively supporting others. Some previous exposure to ArcPro or QGIS software or similar products would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.
