Warwick Business School is looking to appoint an outstanding scholar within its Organisation and Work Group, who can contribute to its international reputation for teaching, conducting and publishing high-quality research relating to organisation and/or work.

The Organisation and Work Group at Warwick Business School is one of the world’s leading groups of organisation and work scholars. Its members share an interest in thinking critically about organisation, work, employment, practices, processes, institutions, and management within contemporary and future organisations.

The Group is widely regarded as a hub of world-class qualitative scholarship which is routinely published by the leading journals in the field. Our exceptional faculty have created an inclusive, collegial and developmental culture in which early career academics can enhance their research and teaching capabilities and further develop their research programmes.

Organisation and Work Group modules cover topics including, but not limited to, innovation, the interface between organization and new technologies, networks, gender, ethics, leadership, change, emotions and affect, managerial work, future work and employment, HRM, routines, identity, professions, and health and social care.

About You
Candidates should hold a PhD in organisation studies, management, sociology of work, or a related subject, preferably conferred by a Business School.

Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated ability to publish in the highest level of management and organisation studies academic journals (e.g., those included in the FT 50 and WBS 60 lists) and conduct research on topics which align with the Organisation and Work Group faculty’s interests. This includes but is not limited to organisational practices, routines, social institutions, emotions, traditions and legacy, organisational cognition, human resource management, industrial relations, etc. The candidate’s research programme should demonstrate strong potential to inform professional practice and/or generate societal impact.

The successful candidate will also demonstrate the ability to lead, lecture for, and support the delivery of multiple Organisation and Work Group modules at the undergraduate, postgraduate levels, and executive levels. These include modules on topics such as foundations of management, change management, leadership, critical issues in management, responsible business, organisational analysis, among others. Candidates with prior teaching experience should be able to provide evidence of effective teaching and successful pedagogy. Relevant industry or professional experience that enriches the delivery and pedagogical approach of these modules will also be viewed favourably.

We especially welcome candidates with a collegial attitude, interested in becoming an integral member of the group, participating in and contributing to its activities, and taking responsibility for upholding and raising the group's and WBS's international visibility and reputation.

Closing Deadline: Sunday 23 August 2026 at 11:55pm (UK Time)
