About the role

The Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (CLCC) at Imperial College London is looking for a part-time Language Coordinator in British Sign Language (BSL).

As an experienced teacher of BSL in higher education, you will join an established team of Language Coordinators who work on the I-Explore and Horizons undergraduate programmes as well as on our Imperial after:hours  programme. The role involves teaching students from a scientific, technical, or medical background and leading the BSL teaching team.

Reporting to the Languages Field Leader, you will have overall responsibility for the management of the BSL provision within the CLCC's Institution-Wide Language Programme (IWLP), ensuring there is adequate professional teaching resource to meet all service requirements. The Language Coordinator is part of a team which contributes to the institutional Teaching & Learning Strategy by offering a high-quality language teaching service tailored to Imperial students' needs, and by identifying, recommending, and implementing improvements and innovative proposals.

This part-time post (0.30 FTE) covers language coordination and leadership duties alongside teaching on two Horizons modules (on Mondays and Tuesdays, subject to student demand). Please note that this role requires the post-holder's attendance on campus.  It is expected that the successful candidate will carry out a range of duties during non-teaching time, including on non-teaching days and in the university vacation period.

Please note that the CLCC is expanding its BSL teaching team and anticipates advertising additional part-time Teaching Fellow hours, subject to student demand.

What you would be doing

Please refer to the job description for further information.
