Flexible Working

  • We will consider applications for employment on a part-time basis. In particular, we welcome applications from candidates seeking a minimum of 21.9 hours per week (0.6 FTE).

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the University’s international working and employee mobility service, helping colleagues and departments navigate the practical, financial and compliance considerations associated with working overseas.

As Employee Mobility Officer, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of the service and manage the Employee Mobility team, setting priorities, overseeing casework and supporting colleagues to provide a consistent and responsive service. You will manage complex and sensitive international working cases, ensuring that the appropriate information, approvals and documentation are in place and that higher-risk matters are identified and escalated appropriately.

You will work closely with colleagues across Payroll, Expenses, Finance, Tax, Legal and the wider People Team, as well as with external specialist advisers, to coordinate effective and compliant cross-border arrangements. The role also offers the opportunity to lead mobility-related projects, improve systems and workflows, and contribute operational insight to the continued development of the University’s approach to international working.

About You

You will bring experience of leading or supervising colleagues within an operational, casework or compliance-focused environment. You will be comfortable setting priorities, providing guidance and maintaining high standards while managing competing demands and deadlines.

You will have experience coordinating structured approval, governance or case-management processes and handling complex or sensitive cases that require sound judgement. You will be able to interpret and apply policies consistently, identify risks and recognise when specialist advice or escalation is required.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills will be important, as you will work with a wide range of colleagues and translate complex considerations into clear, practical guidance. You will also understand the importance of accurate, auditable records, data integrity and effective use of HR or case-management systems.

You will be interested in improving how services operate and willing to contribute ideas that strengthen processes, systems and the experience of those using the service. Previous experience of international working, employee mobility or cross-border arrangements would be valuable, although the ability to learn, collaborate and exercise sound professional judgement will be equally important.
