Programme Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for  two Programme Managers to join the Emerging Pathogens team within the Oxford Vaccine Group and Pandemic Sciences Institute. Led by Professor Teresa Lambe OBE, the team carries out fundamental research to understand how vaccines generate immunity and protection, and develops vaccines against outbreak pathogens, from antigen design and preclinical evaluation to first-in-human trials and licensure.

 

You will play a central role in the team, with responsibility for the planning, delivery and coordination of a complex research programme. You will work closely with Professor Lambe, senior academics, funders, collaborators, industry partners, clinical, regulatory and manufacturing teams, and University professional services. In this role, you will lead the delivery of allocated vaccine programmes, including managing project plans, monitoring milestones, risks, budgets and outcomes, and leading programme reporting. You will also support and coordinate ethics and regulatory submissions, contracts, and preclinical, clinical and manufacturing activities, liaising with the University’s Research Services team.

These are full-time posts, fixed-term for two years. You will be based at the Oxford Vaccine Group on the University’s Old Road Campus in Headington. Hybrid working may be possible.

You will be educated to degree level, or have equivalent experience, preferably in a life science or health-related subjects. You will have proven extensive project-management experience across the full project lifecycle, preferably within a research environment or another complex organisation. Knowledge of GDPR, GCP, and research governance is essential. Experience of supporting grant applications and leading health-related programmes would be desirable.

 

You will also have experience of financial management, strong analytical and skills and the ability to interpret complex information, identify problems and provide actionable insights. Excellent organisational, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills are essential. You will be able to influence important stakeholders, manage conflicting demands and tight deadlines.
