Future Skills Research Fellow - Qualitative

Grade 8: £45,025 - £48,820, full-time, Fixed-term (4 years).

Kingston University London is a national leader in Future Skills education, embedding skills such as problem-solving, digital competency and collaboration across every undergraduate degree. Supported by funding from The Mohn Westlake Foundation, we are seeking a talented Research Fellow with strong qualitative and applied pedagogic research expertise to join our Future Skills Research programme.

Working within Kingston University's Behaviour, Business and Policy Knowledge Exchange and Research Institute (KERI), you will play a central role in a flagship multi-year research programme examining the impact and implementation of Future Skills across higher education. You will design and lead qualitative and mixed-methods research and impact evaluation, generating evidence to inform curriculum enhancement and policy development. The role includes process evaluation, industry co-created research, stakeholder engagement, support for student-led research projects, and dissemination of findings through publications, conferences, and policy briefs. You will also contribute to external research and funding bids and provide methodological guidance on qualitative research design and analysis across the programme.

Please note that this is one of two complementary posts, advertised separately: one focused on quantitative, and the other on applied, qualitative and pedagogic research.

About You

You will hold a PhD (or equivalent research experience) in education, psychology, social sciences or a related discipline, with substantial expertise in qualitative and applied research. You will have experience designing and conducting interviews, focus groups and qualitative analysis, ideally within mixed-methods projects.

You will have a strong publication record, experience engaging with stakeholders, and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams. Experience of researching student outcomes, graduate employability, skills development, educational evaluation, or employer engagement would be advantageous.

This role sits within the Behaviour, Business and Policy KERI, one of Kingston University's four Knowledge Exchange and Research Institutes. The Institute brings together researchers, industry and policymakers to address major societal challenges through evidence-based research.
