Leeds Arts University is the only specialist arts university in the North of England. We have contributed significantly to the development of arts education for over 180 years, and have developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students and staff.  

We are seeking a Senior Lecturer to join the course team and support the Course Leader in the management of the course. Both courses provide a professional understanding of studio and freelance practice, developing specialist skills suited to a range of creative careers. 

The main focus on the role will be to coordinate, deliver, support and assess practice-based animation modules across the BA (Hons) Animation course. You will be expected to have an excellent understanding of 3D digital CG modelling and animation pipelines. You will also support the delivery of 2D animation on a practical, technical and conceptual level. A deep understanding of discourse surrounding animation practice is also required. As part of the role, you will also be expected to provide technical studio support to animation students using a range of software including software including Blender, Autodesk Maya and  Adobe Creative Cloud software (After Effects & Premiere in particular). The ability to use and support Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro, TV Paint and Dragon Frame would be desirable. 

You will also be required to support the practice-based research modules at Levels 4, 5 and 6, teaching within a variety of settings including lectures, seminars, studio workshops, peer reviews and individual tutorials. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills to establish links with external employers and identify opportunities for exhibiting and promoting student work. They will have both a BA and MA in Animation or a related discipline and a post graduate teaching qualification or willingness to achieve one within 3 years.  They will also demonstrate extensive specialist animation skills and critical/reflective thinking and professional practice.
