The London School of Economics is a cosmopolitan university situated in the vibrant centre of London that specialises in the study of social sciences.

LSE’s Data and Technology Services division provides services to over 10,000 staff and student users.

The Associate Director, Service Delivery is a pivotal senior leadership role within Digital Technology Services (DTS), responsible for ensuring the reliable, effective and strategic operation of LSE’s core IT service delivery functions.

Reporting to the Director of Service Delivery, the postholder provides strategic direction and operational oversight of workplace technology, audio-visual design and delivery, technology asset and deployment services, and their integration with wider service delivery operations across the institution. 

This role encompasses responsibility for ensuring that LSE's end-user computing environment, teaching and collaboration spaces, and technology deployment capabilities are strategically planned, operationally excellent, and aligned with the School's academic mission and institutional priorities. The Associate Director

leads multi- disciplinary teams comprising workplace technology specialists, AV design and support professionals, and asset and deployment experts, ensuring these diverse functions operate cohesively to deliver seamless, high- quality, and user- focused technology services that support teaching, research, and administrative excellence.

Candidates should have:

  • Substantial experience leading IT service delivery in large, complex organisations, with proven track record managing workplace technology, audio-visual, or technology asset and deployment services, demonstrating strategic planning, operational oversight, and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, user-focused technology services.
  • Strong knowledge of IT hardware and software asset lifecycle management including procurement, deployment, tracking, and disposal, with demonstrable experience applying ITIL principles to improve service management practices, embed continuous improvement cultures, and enhance team performance and service quality.
  • Experience developing and implementing technology roadmaps, service improvement initiatives, and investment prioritisation strategies, with ability to balance strategic vision with operational delivery, manage budgets, oversee vendor relationships, and ensure value for money across technology investments.
  • Proven capability in acting as senior escalation point for complex service issues and major incidents, providing executive-level communication, coordinating cross-functional responses, and ensuring lessons learned drive systemic improvements to service resilience and reliability.
