About the role – the Senior Lawyer (Commercial) will be the lead legal advisor and in-house point of contact for commercial law related advice, contracts and support. 

Working under the strategic direction of the Director and Deputy Director of Legal Services, this role includes a high degree of autonomy in handling complex commercial matters, supervising and managing the Commercial Lawyers in the team and working collaboratively across the adjacent Senior Lawyers in the Regulatory and Contentious and Employment areas. 

About the team- as part of the recently restructured, friendly and inclusive Legal Services team, you will contribute to new initiatives, support our ESG activities (including working with the University’s School of Law) and be part of the wider University community.  Legal Services is an integral part of the University’s professional services.

About you- we’re looking for a commercial, pragmatic and technically capable lawyer, with great interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise sound commercial judgement in a complex environment. You will have strong experience in contracts and commercial matters, especially IT contracts. You will be comfortable in developing expertise in adjacent areas and work well as part of multidisciplinary teams.
