Applications are invited for a Graduate Studies Administrator in the Sub Department of Particle Physics, Department of Physics.

The post is permanent.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, efficient and highly organised individual to manage and coordinate all aspects of graduate administration within the Sub-Department of Particle Physics (PP).

The post-holder will be a key member of the Particle Physics administration team, working particularly closely with the PP Director of Graduate Studies (DGS), Head of Sub-Department (HoSD), Sub-Department Administrator (SDA) and academic colleagues. They will also work closely with graduate administrators across Physics, as well as administrative teams in the central Department of Physics and the MPLS Division.

This is a varied and multifaceted role, requiring the post-holder to manage a range of responsibilities simultaneously while ensuring that routine processes are handled accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner. The role requires a thorough working knowledge of relevant regulations, policies and procedures, and the ability to assimilate and interpret written information quickly. The post-holder will be expected to apply this knowledge appropriately and with discretion, providing clear and accurate advice and guidance to students and staff as required.

The successful candidate should have an honours degree or equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience. Significant experience of working within the Higher Education sector or a comparable environment.

Candidates should have:

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to competently and independently manage a complex and challenging workload, prioritising multiple tasks, and to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to work harmoniously as part of a team within a culture of academic leadership, while also working independently, taking initiative, finding solutions to problems, and progressing key tasks.
