We seek an enthusiastic individual to act as Group Administrator to the Computational and Biological Learning Group (CBL). CBL is housed within the Information Engineering Division at the Department's site in Central Cambridge. This friendly and dynamic group of around 70 researchers aims to understand how the brain works and to develop artificial learning systems (https://www.cbl-cambridge.org/).
You will provide general support to students, researchers and visitors as well as supporting the senior staff and the Head of the Group. You will be responsible for the monitoring of group finances, including grants held by the senior staff, and also support the wider Division by working on grant costings using the University's Worktribe costing tool. Work collaboratively with the wider divisional administration team, providing cover and assistance for colleagues during busy periods, sickness absence and annual leave.
You will be joining a friendly team of six other administrators in the Division and so the ability to work as part of a team and build rapport with colleagues, academics and students is essential. To achieve this, you will require excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide leadership when necessary.
In addition to this, the successful candidate will be educated to at least A level standard with good IT skills and experience of financial management. You should have excellent administrative skills with close attention to detail and you will possess the ability to manage and prioritise a diverse range of activities. The ability to understand, interpret, manage and design administrative processes, ideally with specific knowledge of University administrative processes, would be advantageous.
